QuoteMedia has recently developed solutions for Investor Relations sites who are sensitive to news content and who don’t want any non-company releases in their news content.

1. IR News Package

As a first step of the project, we followed up with what we consider to be our top newswires in order to ensure that our news feeds are cleaned in this manner.  As a result we have created an IR News package of top newswires to replace the Basic News package for IR clients. The newswires included in this package are:

Businesswire
Canada Newswire
GlobeNewswire
Marketwired
Marketwired Intl.
PR Newswire
TheNewsWire.ca

2. IR Support = Remove Non-Company News

As a second step we have implemented support in XML/JSON and QMod services to exclude this news content from the output of the call using a News Topic Code NONCOMPANY.   (Support for NONCOMPANY news topic exclusion is NOT completed yet in QT, QS).

Topic NONCOMPANY is associated to news releases that match the following logic:

ATTORNEY ADVERTISING flagged news
DEADLINE ALERT in headline
UPCOMING DEADLINE ALERT in headline
SHAREHOLDER ALERT in headline
FINAL SHAREHOLDER NOTICE in headline
INVESTOR NOTICE in headline
SHAREHOLDER NOTICE in headline
INVESTOR ALERT in headline
SHAREHOLDERS FOUNDATION in headline
LAWSUIT in headline
CLASS ACTION in headline
RESEARCH REPORTS in headline

INVESTIGATION in headline

How to Use NONCOMPANY in XML/JSON

A new &excludeTopics= input parameter has been created for all XML/JSON news services. It supports more than one topic, comma separated.

Example:
http://app.quotemedia.com/data/getHeadlines.xml?topic=SHOWALLNEWS&src=bwi&webmasterId=xxxxxx&excludeTopics=NONCOMPANY

When &excludeTopics=NONCOMPANY, the output of the XML/JSON call will exclude all news releases with the NONCOMPANY topic code associated to it.

How to Report a Story that is not NONCOMPANY

The terms used to identify a news story as non-Company and flag it with our NONCOMPANY topic code will at times result in some valid company news to be improperly tagged.

To report errors that occur because the story includes a term used for our NONCOMPANY filter (per #2 above), please contact our support team to request that they remove the topic code from the particular story.  When submitting your request, please include the name of the complainant, the company name and symbol, and a link to the story or a QuoteMedia newsid or storyid.  QuoteMedia will review on a case by case basis and update the news story topics promptly once all details have been confirmed.
