Newer versions of Mac OS X may require additional steps when installing the desktop launcher. Please see the appropriate steps for your version below.

First you will need to determine which version of Mac OS X is installed. To find out, click the Apple logo in the leftmost top section of your screen and click About this Mac.

For versions other than Mac OS X Sierra

  1. Click the Apple logo in the leftmost top section of your screen and then click System Preferences.
  2. In the top row, please click on the Security and Privacy tile which looks like a house with a lock icon.
  3. In the General tab please select 'Anywhere' from the list of options under Allow apps downloaded from: (you may need to click the padlock in the bottom corner of this screen to make changes to your computer. Please enter your Username and Password for this computer if prompted to unlock these options.




Once these steps have been followed you will now be able to open the Webstart launcher - Desktop installer.

For OS X Sierra and higher


When opening the file 'qs.jnlp' you will get a message indicating that this application is from an unidentified developer and cannot be opened with your current security settings. Click Ok.

To override your security settings and open the app anyway follow one of two methods outlined below.

 Control Click Method    

  1. In the Finder (Smiley faced icon on the bottom left of your dock launcher at the bottom of the screen

    Don’t use Launchpad to do this. Launchpad doesn’t allow you to access the shortcut menu.

  2. Control-click the app icon, then choose Open from the shortcut menu.

  3. Click Open. The app is saved as an exception to your security settings, and you can open it in the future by double-clicking it just as you can any registered app. (See screenshot for reference)
     


 
Security and Privacy Menu

  1.  Click the Apple logo in the leftmost top section of your screen and then click System Preferences.
  2.  In the top row, please click on the Security and Privacy tile which looks like a house with a lock icon.
  3. In the General tab under Allow apps downloaded from: you will recieve a message 'Qs.jnlp is from an unidentified developer, open anyways? Click Open Anyways.  (you may need to click the padlock in the bottom corner of this screen to make changes to your computer. Please enter your Username and Password for this computer if prompted to unlock these options.
  4. Open your downloads folder from Finder and open 'qs.jnlp' (Smiley faced icon on the bottom left of your dock launcher at the bottom of the screen).

    You will now be able to open the streamer from the newly created desktop icon.
