If the RTD feature stops working, and you no longer see data values being updated, it is likely a sign that a recent reconfiguration of your computer is stopping the data values from being updated.

Possible common changes to your computer, such as new or updated versions of anti-virus or firewall software being installed are usually the culprits, as these programs have the ability to stop data from being fed into the Excel spreadsheet.

I would like to show you a few steps that may resolve your issue:

Step 1: Ensure that RTD Settings are properly configured in the Live Desktop Streamer Application

  1. Open the Live Desktop Streamer Application. Select the “File” menu, and then select “Preferences”
  2. Underneath the "RTD Settings", please ensure that RTD Mode is set to 'Native'.

  3. After setting 'RTD Mode' to “Native”, press 'Close' and close the Live Desktop Streamer Application. Restart the Live Desktop Streamer Application and see if data is now being fed into your Excel spreadsheet.

Step 2: Ensure that Java is properly installed on your computer

  1. If data is still not being fed into your Excel spreadsheet, ensure that Java is installed properly.
  2. The 32-bit or 64 bit version of Java must be used alongside the corresponding 32-bit or 64-bit version of Excel that you are using. (You can install both the 32-bit and 64-bit version if you have any doubts about which version that you need at Java.com-- the 32-bit version is "Windows Offline" and the 64-bit version is Windows Offline (64-bit)).

Step 3: Restart the Computer

  1. After installing any new software, such as Java, please restart your computer to ensure that these changes take effect the next time that you attempt to use the RTD feature.
