Modern versions of Mac OS X may require additional steps when installing either the Desktop or Web Start launcher. Please see the appropriate steps for your version below.


If installing the Web Start version, you may see the following warning in the bottom left corner of the screen:



Press Keep.


For either the Desktop or WebStart versions, on opening the installer (either the .dmg file or .jnlp file respectively), you may see the following message:




You will need to determine which version of Mac OS X is installed. To find out, click the Apple logo in the leftmost top section of your screen and click About this Mac.


For OS X Sierra and higher


  1. Click the Apple logo in the leftmost top section of your screen and then click System Preferences.
  2.  In the top row, please click on the Security and Privacy tile which looks like a house with a lock icon.
  3. In the General tab under Allow apps downloaded from: ensure the options are set to "App Store and Identified Developers". A message about "Quotestream Desktop Installer" will have appeared, click "Open Anyway". You may need to unlock the settings in order to make these changes.

    

    4. Re-open the Installer icon and click "Open".



If necessary, reset the security and privacy settings to their original format once complete.

For versions before Mac OS X Sierra

  1. Click the Apple logo in the leftmost top section of your screen and then click System Preferences.
  2. In the top row, please click on the Security and Privacy tile which looks like a house with a lock icon.
  3. In the General tab please select 'Anywhere' from the list of options under Allow apps downloaded from: (you may need to click the padlock in the bottom corner of this screen to make changes to your computer. Please enter your Username and Password for this computer if prompted to unlock these options.




Once these steps have been followed you will now be able to open the Desktop installer.
